Our Mission
The Mekong Water Technology Innovations Institute (Mekong Water Innovation) is established by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) for Innovative activities in fields of Water resources, Water Technologies and Environment for sustainable development of the Mekong Delta and other basins in Vietnam. The Institute also serves as a platform for cooperation and contributions of the water innovators, technologists, educators, entrepreneurs and researchers in Vietnam as well as International experts.
Our Issues
- Study and Application of Advanced and Sustainable solutions in Water Resources Management, Water Technologies & Engineering and Environment.
- Consulting services in Investigations, Project Preparation, Structural Designs, Project document review and evaluation, Technology transfer in fields of Water Resources, Water technologies and Environment.
- The Institute is also collaborating with other Vietnamese and global water organizations, to achieve innovative solutions for sustainable water development in Vietnam.
Key Management Positions
Prof. Dr. Truong Dinh Du, Chairman
Dr. Truong Dinh Du is former Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute for Water Resources Development. He has a broad and in-depth experience in hydraulic engineering. He has been leader for several studies related to hydraulic structures and steel gates for water control projects in Vietnam.
Dr. Truong Dinh Du has contributed his publications in hydraulic engineering and gate design. He got Hochiminh Prize in 2011 for his valuable contributions on application of Floating dams in Vietnam.
Prof. Dr(sr). Pham Hong Giang, Chairman of Scientific Council
Prof. Dr(sr). Pham Hong Giang an outstanding expert of Structural & Hydraulic Engineering in Vietnam . He has got the Highest Academic Degree of Doctor of Science in Czechoslovakia in 1989. He has delivered lectures on Numerical Analysis & Mathematical Modeling of Structures at the Hanoi Water Resources University and some Universities in Europe as Visiting Professor. He was the Vice Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in charge of Water Resources in Vietnam. He is Chairman of the Vietnam National Committee on Large Dams & Water Resources Development (VNCOLD) and Honorable Vice President of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD)..
He has supervised many R&D Projects and led many Water Projects in practice. His valuable contributions to Water Resources Development in Vietnam are much appreciated. He was also invited as key note speaker at numerous international conferences & workshops held in United States, Japan, New Zealand, China, Germany, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Cong Van, Executive Director
Dr. Trinh Cong Van has a broad and in-depth experience in hydraulic engineering and water-related consultancy, which he gained during a professional dedication of 30 years. He has been involved in many successful consulting services including Water resources development, irrigation and flood risk management in the Mekong Delta. He was the General Director of the hydraulic engineering corporation (HEC2) in period from 2003 to 2008. Since 2009, he has moved from HEC2 to work at the WRU as Associate professor in hydraulic engineering. Recently, he is deputy director of IWER (WRU) and Head of Executing Office of Joint-Master program between WRU and Liege University (Belgium).
Dr. Trinh Cong Van has contributed several papers in International and Vietnamese Journals, Workshops and Conferences. He was an invited speaker at Aquatera conference, Amsterdam, 2009; International workshop on Erosion and it adaptations, Japan, 2009; ICOLD conference, Hanoi, 2010; International workshop on Vietnamese Delta and their Sustainability, 2011 at Mito Japan,…. He got the Secondary Prize of Vietnamese Scientific Innovation (VIFOTEC) in 2002.
